GAME PLAY

  • Players will be divided into equal teams depending on the number of golfers.

  • Players will abide by 2-man scramble golf format (see rules below).

  • Each round, players from each team will be placed into squads of two and matched up against an opposing team’s 2-man squad for a competitive foursome.

  • During each match-up, each hole won by the squads of two will be considered 1 point. Each hole halved is 1/2 point and a loss is 0 points. The round should total 18 points for each foursome, with each squad totaling their respective holes won or halved. The total points won will then be added to each team’s overall score. Note, a team of twelve will have 6 squads competing each round to gain points for their team.

  • The team with the most overall points from each of their squads at the end of the tournament will be crowned champions.

2-MAN SCRAMBLE PLAY RULES:

  • 1.A scramble means that both squad members tee off on each hole and then decide which tee shot they like the best and mark the spot with a tee or ball marker.

  • 2.The other member picks up his ball and drops it from knee within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the marked spot. Each squad member hits their next shot from the chosen spot of the prior shot.

  • 3.If the ball you choose to play is in a hazard (sand, water, etc.), the rough, or out of bounds, you cannot drop the ball outside of the hazard or rough even if relief is within one club length away. If both players hit into drop zones, they must call out drops to opposing squads. Otherwise they will be penalized an additional stroke. If opposing squads are far enough away on a hole to impede visibility of strokes, each squad must yell out which stroke they plan to hit prior to taking next shot.

  • 4.This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts. The ball should be marked on the putting green also.

  • 5.Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the squad score. When putting, once any ball is holed out, no further strokes count. The squad is cautioned not to make “tap”in putts until all members have had the opportunity to attempt the team’s original putt.

The Legends outing will consist of three rounds of golf.  Two played on Saturday and the final round played on Sunday.  Players must attend all rounds of golf, otherwise the respective team will forfeit all remaining holes for the rounds the leaving player would have participated in - no exceptions.

Remember, this is a gentleman’s game, we cannot monitor everything. We expect each team and their squads to abide by all rules listed above. If clarification is needed during game play, please contact one of the directors listed on the contact page of this website.
